BMW M1 PROCAR History; A Tribute to Real Racing

This tee isn’t just a graphic. It’s a tribute.

We made it to honour a moment in motorsport where things were simple.
Same car. Same spec. Only the driver made the difference.

Between 1979 and 1980, BMW launched the M1 Procar Series. A championship where Formula 1 drivers lined up in identical M1s as a warm-up to Grand Prix weekends.

It wasn’t about teams. It wasn’t about budgets.
It was about who had the best hands. That’s what made it special.
That’s the kind of racing we believe in.
That’s why this shirt exists.

What Was the BMW M1 Procar Series?

  • Held during Formula 1 weekends.
  • All cars were factory-built BMW M1s with the same spec.
  • Top F1 drivers automatically qualified — Lauda, Piquet, Pironi, Stuck, Reutemann.
  • Same engine. Same weight. Same tyres.
  • No difference in machines. Just skill.

It only ran for two seasons.
But it proved something that’s still true: when the playing field is level, the best always rise.

Why It Matters to Raceory

We didn’t grow up around pit lanes.
We grew up around the idea that racing was about driving — and nothing else.

The M1 Procar is the perfect symbol of that.
Stripped-down, fast, honest. No extras. Just driving.

It’s the kind of moment that made us want to start Raceory in the first place.
So for us, this piece isn’t just a drop. It’s where it begins.

What’s on the Shirt

The graphic shows the BMW M1 in full factory livery:
White base. M tri-stripes. Alloy centre-lock wheels. Just as it ran.

“One car. One spec. The best drivers on the planet.
The M1 Procar wasn’t a support race. It became the main event.
Power, precision and presence in every lap.”

No filters. No redesigns.
Just respect.

This shirt is for the ones who know what made that kind of racing different.
And for us, that’s what Raceory is built on.
